There has been a lot of talk lately about people finding it hard to make decisions. So many times people have made a decision about something and for some reason they haven’t acted on their decision. Is this about making decisions or is it about taking action?
I know a lady who was so excited to start her new job. After a couple of days into the new job she got her first assignment which involved doing some writing. This lady was trying to write something and couldn’t think of a thing to write. She asked me to help her clear some of the blocks she was feeling. We were talking for a few minutes and the blocks were clearing. Her energy was different. Then I said, “Start writing something. You can only correct and grow from something already down on paper!” She said that was what she needed to hear. Was her situation about making a decision on what to write? Was it about taking action and having something to work with?
Another lady I know had been living with some friends. She knew now was the time to find her own place. She felt she was having a hard time deciding on the move and wanted me to help her with decision making. I asked her if this was about decision making or about taking action. For her, the decision had been made. Now it was time to take action. Once she saw that we started clearing the blocks around her taking the action she needed to make the move.
When it comes to major decisions there is a process you must go through. For example, you decide it’s time to get your own place. The next logical step would be to find the place you want to live in. Once you have that place, then you can start to move in the direction of furnishing your place. You can only work on moving into your new place when you have the place to move into! It is in the forward action that the Divine can help you in wonderful ways.
What would happen if you decided to find your own place and the first thing you did was put all your time and energy into buying furnishings. How would you know what to buy if you don’t know where you will be living? Someone may ask you to house sit their home for six months. You may run across an old friend who invites you to travel overseas for a few months. Then what would you do with all your new furnishings? It may not be beneficial to spend hours of time and energy worrying about all the furnishings you will need when you don’t actually have the new place picked out.
Is fear involved when it comes to taking action? Yes and no depending on what it is! You can talk and talk about decisions you’ve made. You can even change your minds about decisions you’ve made. What really matters is taking the action on those decisions.
I remembered when I first started writing my best-selling book, Quick Shifts. I was literally sitting in front of my computer with tears running down my face. I couldn’t move! Eventually I asked for help to move through the blocks I was feeling. My niece said to me, ‘Aunty, you have writer’s block!’ To which I replied, ‘If that is what writer’s block is, I could feel every bit of it.’ Did it make it any easier for me to write? Not at all, but I did start writing.
When you look at what is going on in your life right now have you made decisions you need to take action on? If you’ve made the decision and yet you continue to be focused on needing to make a decision that can be a huge waste of time and energy. It is more beneficial to direct that time and energy into taking action to move forward on that decision. It would be wonderful to hear from you.
Wherever you are on your journey, may you find what works for you…find your own truth…and you will always be guided to feel at peace inside.
