How are you with the time it takes to bring about ‘change?’ For example, how long would it take to make the changes you need to in order to lose weight to get to your desired goal? How long would you have to work at getting some of the people around you to treat you differently? How long does it take to grow a tree in your yard where there is a noticeable change in its size?
Something that has always been hard for me is realizing it takes ‘time’ to bring about change! I want what I want pretty much now! I want to put in my effort and be done! It’s not always easy to realize life isn’t like that…especially now that I’ve created a vision of the changes I would like to see in the world! Change involves awareness. What kind of changes are we looking for? What kind of changes are we intending? Where are we looking for the change?
If I could use the analogy of cleaning – I personally would clean a bunch of smaller rooms in a whole house (a house the size of a gym)…but I won’t clean a whole big gymnasium! I can clean one room in a day…but a gymnasium would take more than a day! With every clean room in the house I can see what I have accomplished…as well how much more I have to go to be done! Life doesn’t always show us those little accomplishments and when we think about life…are we ever done! For me to master my challenges around change…I need to have the awareness of how I view change.
As much as it takes time to change…every small step is necessary for any movement at all. I now see the impact this analogy has on me and my vision! I’m wiser to check in for signs of accomplishment to keep me moving forward. I’m being mindful of the time this can take and what I need to do to bring about the changes I would like to see in the world. What a wonderful and peaceful way to see how my learning and growing can be signs…and that my journey is what matters.
When it comes to the time it takes for you to bring about change, how can you view life in order to be the master of what change is for you?
