Are you aware of the impact your thoughts and thinking have on your energy? Try this….think about something you love to do. How does that make you feel? Now think about something that bothers you or something you don’t like to do. How does that make you feel? What changed taking you from feeling what you love to do to feeling what bothers you? Your thoughts…your thinking can change what you feel in any moment of time. Your feelings are part of your energy.
Your thoughts precede your feelings. Your thoughts determine where you are or where you are not in any moment of time. What do I mean by that?
There is a difference between thoughts and thinking. Thinking – consider this…in this present moment, if someone came up to you and asked you to do something, you would think about whether or not you would do it. The process majority of people go through involves thinking about the request, making a decision or saying they will ‘think about it’. Thinking comes from the mind and the mind isn’t always acting in your best interests.
If your mind isn’t always acting in your best interests, how do feelings come into play? Going back to the example of someone coming up to you asking you to do something, you think about the request, then you stop thinking about it and feel if what they asked is something you want to do. Does it feel right to you? This can take seconds to decide in the moment based on how you feel about doing or not doing what they ask.
Let’s go in a different direction now. Thoughts – your thoughts about the problems going on at work or thoughts about not wanting to talk to your mom or dad or thoughts about not having enough money to pay your bills. Where are those kinds of thoughts taking you? Are you still in the present moment or are you off somewhere worrying or wondering?
When you think and think and think about something that’s not there, so to speak, you are creating a picture and your ‘feelings’ will be reflected based on those thoughts.
You see, your thoughts can take you to a place of not feeling great or feeling bothered…and your thoughts can take you to a place of non-reaction or being at peace within yourself. There is no judgement, no right or wrong. Becoming aware of your thoughts and/or thinking is a wonderful place to start because everyone is learning and growing with every moment.
When you think, you can think and go into a thinking loop of problem after problem taking into account the ‘what if’s’ and the ‘I should have’s’ OR you can think for seconds, stop thinking and move into a place of feeling if something is right for you. Then there is one more option of just experiencing every moment without having to think at all. Is that where we are headed….hummm?
What do you feel brings about a more peaceful present moment?
