There can be days when you think it would be so much easier to solve some of the problems others have to deal with. You would know exactly how you would handle them. The thing about that is their problems aren’t yours. You have been given your problems to help you learn the life lessons you are here to grow through.
Recently I did a series of 6 short video tips for the Public Speaker’s Association. The first tip – you are your own leading authority! Let me give you some background first. The video link is below.
You are the only person you take to bed with you every night and the only person you wake up with every morning. You are the only person you take with you everywhere you go 24,7,365. That’s what makes you the leading authority of you and your life. That’s why you should never give up on yourself!
You know in any moment of time if all of a sudden you feel sick or if you are bothered about what someone says or does. You know how you feel inside when someone asks you to do something you don’t want to do. You even know when you feel so excited you want to shout from the rooftops! What do you do with what you know?
Knowing yourself is about having awareness of what you are thinking, what you are feeling emotionally, what’s going on in your physical body and what’s going on in your energy. That awareness will serve you greatly.
For example, let’s say you notice your knees have started to hurt again. It’s been months since you’ve had any pain in your knees and now the pain is back. The fact that your knees are hurting now, especially when they haven’t been hurting for months, indicates a change is taking place. That change is causing you some unrest inside. The unrest expresses itself as pain in the physical body. Aches and pain in the physical body get your attention. To be aware is to observe what’s going on in your life right now. What is ‘different’ causing your knees to hurt? Consider these questions:
- Are there any changes taking place in the relationships around you?
- Are there any changes taking place in your professional or personal life?
- Are there any changes taking place in locations, for example you have a pending move or maybe children are making a move?
Think about it this way. If you are doing something quite challenging causing change in your life there is unrest! That unrest shows up in how you think, feel and act. Unrest disrupts your energetic flow which leads to physical aches and pains.
You see unrest is expressed as reactions. Reactions are like red flags trying to get your attention. The pain which surfaced in your knees right now is a red flag. What’s going on inside of you in relation to what’s going on outside of you? Why does that matter?
Imagine your awareness is growing. After months of feeling good you notice pain in your knees again. You think to yourself, ‘what’s going on in my life right now?’ The next day walking into work you can really feel the soreness in the knees. That’s it! A change in jobs! You realize you are about to get a new job where you take on more responsibility. Wow. Your thoughts are filled with excitement about the change and at the same time you’re a little hesitant because of the added responsibilities. To be excited and hesitant at the same time creates this ‘go forward – pull back’ movement in your energy. That impacts your physical body which in this case impacts your knees.
Having that realization helps you work with the pain in your knees. You will get a sense the pain is only temporary. The pain is helping to see you have some unrest around getting the new job. That awareness leaves you to feel more empowered inside.
You are your own leading authority when it comes to you and your own life. To grow with that awareness serves you greatly as you move forward with each new day. You can see the first video here: https://youtu.be/5veNlO_uEdE
Wherever you are on your journey, may you find what works for you…find your own truth and you will always be guided to feel at peace inside.
