There I was, I could hardly move. The pain in the back right side of my right hip was very intense, making it hard to even walk.
Friday morning, I felt fine and went about my usual morning regime. I headed downstairs to do my exercise workout. Part way into the workout, I could feel sensations of pain surfacing in my hip area. I finished my workout and headed back upstairs. Within an hour, I can hardly move. Whatever was happening with my physical body got my attention.
At first I was focused on figuring out what I did physically to cause this pain. I reflected back on the last 24 hours and still had no clue. Eventually, I turned my attention towards my thoughts and feelings over the last number of days. What was different? What could I possibly be thinking of?
One thing I became aware of was a powerful manifesting practice I had been doing for a couple of days. I was aware my energy was changing because I was feeling more settled inside. I didn’t quite know how these changes were manifesting in the physical world around me.
I recognized the pain indicated I had unrest inside and was my body’s way of slowing me down. I needed to pay attention to what I was thinking and feeling. There was some healing work I needed to do before I could step forward and be aligned with what I was manifesting.
The intensity of pain was up and down as I continued to heal and resolve the unrest inside. When I had thoughts related to unrest, the pain was intense. When I resolved the unrest, the pain was gone. This continued for three days. On one hand I was in a lot of physical pain. On the other hand, I celebrated my pain because my body continued to communicate with me the whole time. By Tuesday, I had next to no pain and was back exercising like normal.
Have you ever experienced having pain and you had no idea what caused the pain?
When it comes to any kind of pain, here are some things I learned over the last week:
1. The sensations of pain you feel in your physical body may not be coming from the physical movements you made with your body. The pain may be coming from your thoughts and feelings.
This point may be hard to grasp. There can be times when your physical body needs to get your attention. Pain is one way to draw your attention inwardly towards your Self. What’s going on in your life? What thoughts and emotions have been present creating the changes in your physical body?
2. The intensity of pain can be an indicator of where you are in the healing process.
You may have thoughts and emotions related to unrest inside. Together, those thoughts and emotions can ‘wake up’ your pain. If the pain intensifies, you can be ‘connected’ with some unrest. When you heal and resolve the unrest, the pain related to the unrest is released and gone. This process can continue until the pain from the area is gone.
3. Having awareness of any changes in your physical body is important in the healing process.
You may experience times in your day when you don’t feel the sensations of pain. Then there may be times when the pain is intense. What movements cause you the most pain? The movements you make with your physical body can also help you to know when you have ‘connected’ with the unrest inside. For example, on Sunday morning, I tried to stretch my hips and legs. My left thigh tightened up and I started to cry. This was significant for me. In that moment, I had the realization I had been pushing my husband in his healing process. I felt so bad and did a quick forgiveness process. When I was done, the tightness in my thigh released.
4. There can be pain in the recovery.
You can experience pain going into and coming out of ‘problems.’
For me, I knew it was painful to walk and yet I continued to walk. Physical movement was one way of keeping my energy in motion. I had to ‘work out’ the energetic blocks which surfaced in my hips. As I moved physically through the healing process, my thoughts and emotions were becoming more positive and uplifting. The sensations of pain were gone. I had a sense I was now aligned with what I was manifesting and ready for the next level of growth spurt.
Pain can surface in many ways and for different reasons. Initially, the reasons may not make sense. Even though the reasons don’t make sense, consider keeping an open mind through the healing process. You may be pleasantly surprised at what you can learn about yourself. You are always ‘rewarded’ for doing your inner work.
Wherever you are on your journey, may you find what works for you…find your own truth…and you will always be guided to feel at peace inside.
