Think about your life right now. Have you experienced times when you weren’t enough and needed to be something other than what you were? This can be so subtle and show up in any number of ways.
I’ve become aware of finding it hard to just say no when I don’t want to do something. The most recent situation had to do with playing cards with my mom. She gave us a call asking us to come over. We didn’t feel like it and for some reason I struggled to have a good enough ‘excuse’ not to go. I eventually came up with something and hung up the phone. I knew I had unrest related to the experience. As I questioned myself, I learned I wasn’t okay to just say no! Why did I need an excuse…it was like saying no wasn’t enough for me. My awareness of what was going on inside of me helped guide me to the ‘untruth’ of what I believed about myself.
What comes to your mind when you read that? What do you need to be or do in order for you to……?
Do you need to be ‘nice’ so you’re not like an angry person in your life?
Do you need to be ‘skinny’ so you’re not like someone you know who is fat?
Do you need to have more education or training so you’re not dumb or stupid like someone you know?
Do you need to keep busy so no one thinks you’re lazy?
This can absolutely anything! What is it for you?
Your mind will do one of 2 things:
- pull you back into the past where you once again re-think of things you don’t like or don’t want to be: or
- push you into the future where you think you need to do more of something so that you don’t end up like someone or something from your past.
Consider this…stay in the present moment and….
Enjoy being nice or even kind right now because you actually feel like it.
Notice where you’re at with your weight today and find your way to appreciating how healthy and blessed you are to have the body you have.
Recognize the education you have now and move towards utilizing it as best you can today.
Be busy when you’re busy and be lazy if you want to be only because it feels right to you.
I’ve only shared a few examples to guide you forward. Only you will truly know what goes on inside of you. Growing in awareness will always reward you.
If you find you still need to be or do something so that you are or aren’t enough…ask yourself, ‘what do I need to believe about myself for that to be true for me?’ Notice the insights that show up for you.
Wherever you are on your journey, may you find what works for you…find your own truth…and you will always be guided to feel at peace inside.
